Comparison between CDMA and GPRS Phones

      By cooldude | September 11, 2011

These days you have the option of choosing from CDMA or GPRS phones. CDMA stands for Code Division Multiple Access technology. The second and third generations of wireless communication uses this technology. CDMA works on 800 MHz and 1900 MHz frequency bands. The CDMA technology doesn’t require the use of a SIM card. Instead it gives specific serial numbers to the mobile handsets. The cost of the calls is cheaper in a CDMA phone. Along with that the quality of the call is better.

GSM means Global System for Mobile Communication. This technology uses SIM cards for connection. The SIM cards are small and removable. Thus if you have a phone which supports GSM, you can change the service provider by simply changing the SIM cards. GSM phones have various calling plans that you can choose from. The call quality is better in GSM than CDMA. GSM phones consume less power and can be used anywhere in the world.
